The Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia (SSM), as the only representative trade union in the country, on 11 and 12 November, 2025, conducted a Survey on the needs of workers’ regarding the increase in the minimum wage in the Republic of Macedonia.
The purpose of this survey is to determine the opinion of the workers’ on whether there is a real need to increase the minimum wage and what activities SSM should undertake in the coming period.
With a representative sample of 1613 respondents (workers’, citizens, members of trade union bodies and organizations) over a period of 24 hours, the Survey on the Minimum Wage in Macedonia gave the following results:
To the question: “How much should the minimum wage be in our country”, out of 1613 responses, 45.2% believe that the minimum wage in Macedonia should be increased to 600 euros, 42% of respondents believe that it should be over 700 euros, and 12.8% of respondents believe that the minimum wage in Macedonia should be 500 euros.

99.5% of respondents (workers’, citizens, members of trade union bodies and organizations) believe that the minimum wage should be increased by the end of the current year.
52.8% of respondents (workers’, citizens, members of trade union bodies and organizations) are ready to protest if the minimum wage is not increased, and 47.2% are ready to strike or all respondents believe that if the minimum wage is not increased, both protests and strikes should be organized and held as soon as possible.


The final conclusion from the Survey on the needs of workers’ regarding the increase in the minimum wage in the Republic of Macedonia is that the request for an urgent increase in the minimum wage in our country is not a desire of individuals, but a need of all workers’ in Macedonia.
