Workers are already asking themselves the question: whose interest is it that the minimum wage in Macedonia is the lowest and is less than 400 euros and is 100, 200 or even 400 euros lower than the minimum wage in the region, for which purpose Macedonian workers are being kept consciously in poverty and does anyone consciously want to contribute to the exodus of the workforce from Macedonia?
So we are unfortunately left last, although SSM demanded an increase in the minimum wage to 450 euros last year and is demanding 500 euros this year, unfortunately instead of being among the first countries to increase the minimum wage, we are the last country that remained at the bottom in the region and in Europe in terms of the minimum wage, especially if we know that the minimum wage in Montenegro is 600 to 800 euros, in Bosnia and Herzegovina 600 euros minimum income, and now since October 500 euros minimum wage in Serbia as well, emphasized the President of SSM Slobodan Trendafilov for the newspaper Vecer.
Let us just remind you that Serbia is increasing the minimum wage twice in the same year, and from October 1, 2025, the minimum wage will be higher by 9.4 percent and will amount to 500 euros, and from January 1, 2026, a new increase has been announced and it will increase to 550 euros.
