Trendafilov: We only see an increase in the greed of traders, the Government should take a more rigorous step

The Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia (SSM) should be involved in the creation of new measures by the Government to limit the profit margins of basic products so that it does not happen that the traders play the measure on the backs of the workers and citizens again, the first person believes of this organization, Slobodan Trendafilov.

Based on our parameters, " I can say that 47 products or products from the minimum union basket were taken in the measure brought by the government for 70 products or products where the margin was limited. Unfortunately, the merchants took advantage of the period when the Government announced that such a measure would be adopted, and what did they do? First, they increased the prices and the union minimum basket in part of the increase in food and beverage costs was increased by around 750 denars for September, and now for October it has been reduced by around 960 denars, which will mean that the traders were greedy, on the backs of the workers were trying to make money again and the prices they increased in September only decreased in October and again remained with the same profit they had".

The President of the SSM says that in Macedonia we can only see an increase in the greed of traders to the detriment of citizens and workers, adding that the Government should take more rigorous steps to prevent such occurrences.

"Of course, we are waiting for the limitation of margins according to the Law on Unfair Trade Practices to function, but from what we see on the ground, the performance of the inspectorate is really weak, not because they don't want to, but because they have a very small number of people who have to control a huge number of merchants. We believe that the SSM should be involved in the way of creating the new measures that the Government will create to limit the margins, taking into account that two-thirds of what they have foreseen is from the minimum union basket, and we calculate it and know the best that is needed ",
said Trendafilov.
