Today, in the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia, a meeting was held between senior representatives of the World Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), from the Pan-European Regional Committee (PERC) led by the Executive Secretary for ITUC/PERC, Mr. Anton Leppik, and Ms. Enisa Salimović with Ivan Peshevski, vice-president of SSM for the private sector, Slobodan Trendafilov, head of the cabinet of the President of SSM and Lile Petrova, adviser for labor relations.
At the meeting, ITUC-PERC representatives were informed in detail about the Government's intention to introduce a 60-hour work week and a 12-hour working day contrary to the Constitution, Laws, Collective Agreements, International Labor Conventions, and a quick reaction from them and a strong condemnation of the intention of the Government and the group of MPs who want to implement this regression of labor rights despite the clear guidelines of the Constitutional Court on this matter.
From the meeting, it resulted that during the day the World Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) will deliver a letter to the Government, the Parliament, and the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, which will indicate to the policymakers that with this intention, a series of acts, rules and conventions to the detriment of workers, and in the interest of individuals.
The Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia continues to lead the fight at the international level, and we expect to receive support for SSM and condemnation of such policies from the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), and the European (EFBWW) and the World Confederation of Construction Trade Unions. forestry (BWI).
