The Federation of Trade Unions invites its membership, but also all workers whose rights are violated and who demand better working conditions, to come to the big trade union protest that will be held on the occasion of May 1 - International Labor Day on Monday, starting at 12:00 in front of the SSM building, and then in front of the Parliament and the Government. As Igor Gerasov, vice-president of SSM, says, "The critical moment has come for our workers" and that is why he called for the greatest possible mass.
- Some 150 years ago made a sacrifice to enjoy the rights they fought for, but today we are faced with fighting the same battle for an 8-hour working day. Now, by law, they want to push through a 60-hour work week so that workers at "Bechtel and Enka" can be employed that way. For this and other violations of rights, SSM organizes a mass protest. Everyone should individually make a sacrifice, set aside at least one hour a year, and come to a protest to say together that we are dissatisfied - Gerasov said in an interview for Utrinski Pechat.
- A state, or even a company, cannot function without workers. Employers, including the public sector, cannot treat our workers with great disrespect. We need to sit down at the table together - we, the employers and the Government and talk about the progress of the country which cannot happen without a good worker - said Gerasov.
