According to the latest survey conducted by SSM, workers’ believe that the minimum wage should be between 600 euros and 700 euros, which means they demand an increase of at least 200 to 300 euros.
- Unfortunately, some experts believe that changing the methodology is a solution, but the solution they advocate for, up until 2022 meant an increase in the minimum wage by 100, 200 or 500 denars per year. If SSM had not protested in 2022 for a change in the methodology and an increase in the minimum wage, now and according to those parameters dated from before 2022, one third of the average wage, the inflation and GDP, the minimum wage would have amounted 20,682 denars or 5,379 denars less than what will eventually be adjusted in 2026, the president of the SSM, Slobodan Trendafilov, emphasized during an interview for the medium- "Local".
He reminded that now with the current minimum wage we are at the bottom, but with such a wage we would have break the bottom and be in an even worse situation. Therefore, he warned the authorities that if the minimum wage is not increased as they demand, the workers’ are ready to protest and strike again.
