16 PROTESTS AND 3 STRIKES by August 2025

PROTESTS:

1. SSM support for UPOZ and the protests of employees in the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, Ministry of Digital Transformation, Ministry of Forestry and Water Management, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Ministry of Economy and Labor, Ministry of Transport, State Statistical Office and State Archives

· In January, employees in the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, Ministry of Digital Transformation, Ministry of Forestry and Water Management, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Ministry of Economy and Labor, Ministry of Transport, State Statistical Office and State Archives, with the support of UPOZ and SSM, protested for 5 days, demanding a 30% salary supplement and appealed to the Government to find a way to provide funds from the Budget to solve this long-standing problem of employees.

2. SSM's support for the protest of employees at Kolska DOOEL Veles

· In February, SSM supported the employees at Kolska DOOEL Veles who protested for the unpaid salaries of the workers.

3. SSM's support for the protest of employees at POST

· The President of SSM Slobodan Trendafilov together with the Presidents of the Trade Unions at Makedonska Posta, part of SSM, Boro Veligdenov and Sashe Dimitrijevski, together with more than 150 employees at the post office who, as a sign of revolt, held a peaceful protest demanding from the Directors to explain the reasons for the pressures being exerted on them, for the unpaid salaries, for when personal protective equipment and work equipment will be purchased, when the promotion of party followers to controllers will stop, and when the political persecution with pressures to join a party union will stop.

4. SSM Support for UPOZ and Employees in Social Work Centers

· The UPOZ Trade Union and SSM supported social workers from Prilep, Veles, Kumanovo, Tetovo, Negotino, Kavadarci, Kicevo and Gostivar in their protest for better working conditions, after a female colleague was injured at her workplace. Support was absent only from the employees of the Social Work Center Skopje, who faced threats from managers and the Ministry of Social Policy, Demography and Youth.

5. SSM support for workers from MCSR Prilep

· The President of the UPOZ Trade Union Trpe Deanoski together with the President of the SSM Slobodan Trendafilov as well as the Presidents of SGIP Ivan Peshevski and AGRO Trade Union Igor Kitanoski with support for the Public Institution Inter-Municipal Center for Social Work in Prilep where they once again expressed their regret and support for the colleague who was attempted to be murdered while performing her duty as well as for the colleagues who work at the Center and who were exposed to danger to their lives and requested improvement of working conditions at the workplaces.

6. SSM with support for the protest of the SKRM

· The Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia with the support of the SKRM and cultural workers at the protest and a protest meeting of the Council with members of the SKRM in front of the Ministry of Culture due to late payment of salaries.

7. 300 members of the bodies and organs of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Macedonia, pursuant to a Decision of the Presidency of the CSM dated 28.03.2025, on 02.04.2025 (Wednesday) in order to express public opinion for the purpose of realizing social and economic interests for the protection of workers' rights and the right to freedom of association and trade union organization, organized a public session (protest) of the bodies and organs of the CSM and the bodies and organs of the trade unions affiliated with the CSM, which started in front of the Workers' Home (CSM building) with headquarters at 12 Macedonian Strike Brigade No. 2-a, Skopje (new Mirce Acev No. 6) at 12.05 p.m. and at which the request was made to the Government to propose amendments to the Law on Minimum Wage that would increase the minimum wage to at least 30 thousand denars or 500 euros.

8. Large Workers' May Day Protest of the SSM under the motto WE PROTEST FOR SALARY!

At the call of the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia, on May 1, the protest under the motto WE PROTEST FOR SALARY was joined by between 6,000 and 7,000 workers, trade unionists, unions, activists and fighters for workers' rights, citizens, pensioners, students, as well as all those who think well of the worker. Staying for almost an hour, the union leaders, together with the present workers, citizens and activists for workers' rights, sent the most important messages precisely to the policy makers, i.e. to the Government. A message was sent to government officials and all employers who have forgotten that without workers there is no economy, that without workers there is no development, and that without workers there is no future. In particular, the request to the Government to propose amendments to the Law on Minimum Wage that would increase the minimum wage to at least 30 thousand denars or 500 euros was highlighted. Announcing that the protests would continue, the President of the SCM announced that workers would take to the streets more often, that there could be a strike throughout the country for at least one day, all with the aim of sending a message to the Government, politicians, bosses and all concerned that the SCM will not deviate from the demands for a minimum wage of 500 euros as well as the demands for the realization and protection of all labor rights for the Macedonian worker.

9. Four protests by the SUTKOZ Trade Union with the support of the SCM for the payment of salaries to employees of Florakom and Luna, daughter companies of the PE Parkovi i zelenilo Skopje.

STRIKES:

1. SSM support for the strike of workers at FAKOM production and assembly

· Workers at FAKOM production and assembly, supported by the Union of Industry, Energy and Mining (SIER) and the Confederation of Trade Unions of Macedonia (SSM), went on a general strike due to unpaid salaries. unpaid K-15 for 2024 and unpaid three consecutive 13th salaries.

2. SSM support for SUTKOZ and workers at TERMINAL DOOEL Prilep

· SSM President Slobodan Trendafilov and SUTKOZ President Stojanche Kashikovski with support for the strike of employees at Terminal DOOEL Prilep due to 7 unpaid salaries.

3. Three-day strike of SUTKOZ and employees of the PE for PUP Prilep

Due to the irregular payment of salaries, the employees of the PE for PUP Prilep went on strike in the period from 25.08.2025 to 27.08.2025.

The reason for the irregular payment of salaries in the company, which, among other activities, also provides student transportation, is the millions of debts that the secondary schools from Prilep have to the company for services provided for student transportation.
