On 1 and 2 December representatives of the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia participated in the regional workshop “Trade Unions in Transformation: Strategic Foresight to Prepare for the Future”.
The event was organized by the International Labour Organization (ILO) through the Bureau for Workers’ Action (ACTRAV), within the framework of the program Trade Unions in Transformation: Drivers of Change.
The workshop was dedicated to improving the capacities of the trade unions coming from Macedonia and Montenegro for strategic foresight, for their adaptation to changes in the labour market and for their capacities for dealing with contemporary challenges brought by technological, economic and geopolitical transformations.
During the workshop participants discussed many topics like what are the main key drivers of change, about the need for greater organizational alignment of the trade unions, and about the development of tools that will help the trade unions to be able to anticipate and act more proactively.
The workshop also enabled the exchange of experiences between the trade union organizations coming from both countries, with an emphasis on improving the social dialogue, just transition processes, and the protection of workers’ rights.
SSM continues to actively engage in international initiatives aimed at advancing trade union action, advocacy, and building new approaches and capacities, all this in the interests of workers’.
