In the past period, in several public utility and water supply enterprises, SUTKOZ, as the only representative union of the Sector, i.e. the branch of Water Supply, Wastewater Removal, Waste Management and Environmental Sanitation Activities, stood shoulder to shoulder with the employees of our members.
In general, employees in these enterprises face the problem of low salaries and their irregular payment, non-payment of vacation pay, lack of work and protective equipment, etc., said today at a press conference the president of SUTKOZ Stojanche Kashikovski.
SUTKOZ, as a unio,n uses all legal rights and rights arising from collective agreements that are available to exercise the rights of workers in these enterprises, not excluding the right to protest and strike.
Thanks to the protests and strikes, the problems with irregular salary payments in the PE Parkovi i zelenilo Skopje, i.e. in the two daughter companies DOOEL Florakom and DOOEL Luna, were overcome, and after 4/four/ protests, the employees now receive their salaries at the same time as the other employees in the company.
In the period from 25 to 28 August, the employees of the PE for PUP Prilep, a company that, among other activities, also transports students on the territory of the municipality of Prilep, also expressed their dissatisfaction with irregular salary payments through a strike.
In the PE Bregalnica Delchevo, despite several warning protests, the management of the company, i.e. the director, did not respect the signed agreement regulating the payment of annual leave allowance, popularly known as K-15, and because of this, several criminal charges were filed by the SUTKOZ against the director for disregarding the agreement and collective agreements.
During the month of August, the problem of irregular salary payments in the Public Enterprise Komunalec Kriva Palanka and the Public Enterprise Solidarnost Vinica was overcome, and to our satisfaction, this was achieved through negotiations and social dialogue with our partners, the management of the enterprise and the mayors of these two municipalities.
Regarding the implementation of the general collective agreement for the public sector in the Public Enterprise, we would like to inform you that, after the warnings before criminal proceedings were submitted for 17 directors of the enterprises who did not act on them, and we filed criminal charges with the competent public prosecutor's offices.
As SUTKOZ, we believe that protests and strikes should be the ultimate measure for the exercise of workers' rights, and the most appropriate way would be to resolve problems through social dialogue.
For this purpose, for the past 2 years, SUTKOZ has been working on a project "Promoting and strengthening social dialogue in the water sector through innovative approaches" funded by the European Union, together with our related unions from Bulgaria, Italy and Malta, as well as with our social partners, the Employers' Organisation of Macedonia.
