Young trade unionists meeting in Belgrade

Regional Trade Union Council Solidarity’s meeting held on July 17 and 18 in Belgrade, among other documents, at the proposal of the Youth Board of RTUC "Solidarity" adopted a "Resolution on improving the position of young people in Trade unions."

At the July meeting general attention has been paid to the position of youth in contemporary economic and social conditions. Young people met with Michael Sommer, President of the German Confederation of Trade Unions (DGB) and the International Trade Union Confederation. Within the program there was sports and recreation part, called "House of Football", held from July 18 to 21 in Stara Pazova. The event was the first camp of the young members of the "Solidarity".

Founding Council RTUC "Solidarity" was held in February 2011 in Belgrade, and on April 11 the same year in Ljubljana was signed a Founding Charter. Initiator of establishing of "Solidarity" is the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), while the role of technical coordinator is performed by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation - Regional Office in Belgrade.

RTUC involves unions from Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia and Montenegro. From Macedonia participating trade unions are the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia and the Confederation of Free Trade Unions. CCM is represented by President Zivko Mitrevski PhD and by the President of SSESM, Robert Simonoski.

The primary objective of the Council is contribution to the unions of the candidate countries, exchange experiences and best-practices of unions from the region. Experts engaged in the Council follow the EU directives, ILO conventions, promote trade union cooperation, and in the special focus is youth work.
