Macedonia must not remain a country with the lowest wages and the cheapest workforce!

In a country where in May 2025, 509,960 workers were recorded with a calculated and paid net salary, of which 374,045 workers or 73.3% of workers received a salary below the average salary, and 135,915 workers or 26.7% of workers received a salary above the average salary, the data are striking, according to which even more worrying is the data that in May (the latest data from the PRO provided by the SSM) there were 0 (zero) workers recorded who received the minimum wage and 0 (zero) workers who received the average wage, which casts additional doubt on the situation with salaries in Macedonia!

If we take into account the fact that since 2022, when we raised the minimum wage to 18,000 denars, there were 7062 new companies, and 5694 were deleted, in 2023, with a minimum wage of 20,175 denars, there were 7062 newly established companies, and only 3372 closed, and in 2024, with an increase in the minimum wage to 22,567 denars, there were 6627 new companies and only 2891 closed, these figures show that with each increase in the minimum wage, the number of closed companies DECREASES, and the number of newly established companies grows, then all excuses that there is no room for increasing the minimum wage fall into disarray.

We remind you that in the region the minimum wage is growing, and only in Macedonia it is stagnating. So, for example, in Serbia the minimum wage from October will be at least 500 euros, while in Macedonia it remains below 400 euros.

This means that Macedonian workers are the most undervalued in the region and work for the lowest wages!

Therefore, we demand an urgent increase in the minimum wage, because with the current amount, workers cannot even cover basic living expenses.

Any delayed reaction is a direct blow to the dignity of workers, and at the same time to the future of the country. Macedonia must not remain a country with the cheapest labor force – workers deserve a wage that will ensure a decent and dignified life!
