SSM AND KSS DISCUSSED LABOR RIGHTS ON A JOINT MEETING

Today, the President of the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia, Darko Dimovski and the President of the Confederation of Free Trade Unions of Macedonia, KSS, Blagoja Ralpovski accompanied by Jakim Nedelkov, President of SONK, KSS and Mico Stojanovski, President of SRSVM, SSM had a meeting in the headquarters of SSM.

On the meeting, the Presidents of both Confederations discussed the current situation and problems faced by workers in promoting and protecting their labor rights, as well as the need for greater diligence of the competent state institutions in ensuring their realization and protection.

Both parties stated that the cooperation between the largest Trade Union Confederations in Macedonia, SSM and KSS is extremely important for the workers and their rights. It was also emphasised that the position of SSM and KSS remains the same on their indications and requirements regarding the harmonization of the minimum wage in accordance with the Law on Minimum Wage, which should take place this month. Both organizations demand consistent application of Articles 2, 4 and 8 of the Law on Minimum Wage, which are detected by the unions as problematic in their application and are not respected by employers, and point out that it is necessary to increase the minimum wage instead of its adjustment through a common will by all social partners.

At the same time, both organizations confirmed that the joint efforts of SSM and KSS in the preparation of the new Labour Law are extremely important given that the views on many issues are the same and are aimed exclusively at promoting workers' rights.
