In the period from 29-30 September in Struga, the Macedonian Occupational Safety and Health Association in cooperation with the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia and Employers' Organization held a OHS Conference on regional cooperation.
Regarding the OHS problems and challenges in times of pandemic, the Secretary of the Council of CCM, Zlatko Cvetkovski emphasized the following:
In order to protect workers who are ill, in isolation or self-isolation due to COVID-19, within the requests submitted to the Government, we have submitted a proposal-initiative, in which we demand salary compensation for absence from work due to infection with Covid 19, isolation and self- isolation to be 100% of the base determined by the law.
Starting from the difficult existential situation caused by the Corona virus, a large number of workers found themselves infected by performing their work tasks, ie they were isolated as a result of exposure to the virus primarily in the workplace. In that regard, the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia proposed in the Rulebook for occupational diseases, the infection with Covid 19 to be stated as an occupational disease not only for the health professionals but also for workers from other activities employed in institutions where contact and exposure to Covid is possible.
CCM's proposals were and still are aimed at providing healthy and safe working conditions in the companies, primarily in terms of the needs imposed by the health crisis.
