MEETING OF THE ETUC GENERAL SECRETARY AND THE PRESIDENT OF CCM WITH THE PRESIDENT OF THE GOVERNMENT OF RNM AND THE MINISTER OF LABOR AND SOCIAL POLICY

The President of CCM, Darko Dimovski, the Secretary of the Council of CCM, Zlatko Cvetkovski, the ETUC General Secretary, Luca Visentini and the ITUC Special Advisor, Jaap Wienen, had a joint working meeting with the President of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, Zoran Zaev and the Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Mila Carovska.

This meeting held at the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia, is the first time in the history of the trade union movement in Macedonia and is extremely important because of the opportunity for the ETUC General Secretary, Luca Visentini and the ITUC Special Advisor Jaap Wienen to express solidarity to the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia and to all unions in the country, and to deliver messages to the Prime Minister, Zaev and the Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Carovska.

On this meeting the issues and challenges that the Unions are facing with have been discussed and the participants have agreed on the need to find solutions through the process of the social dialogue by involving all parties and mutual respect of the different perspectives on resolving certain issues in the interest to the workers.

On the meeting, the ETUC General Secretary expressed the support of the European Trade Union Confederation for the European path and the European commitment of our State in resolving these issues, emphasizing the involvement of all institutions in the creation of the new Labor Law with European values.

The ETUC General Secretary, Luca Visentini and the ITUC Special Advisor, Jaap Wienen welcomed the ongoing process of the social dialogue, but at the same time they recommended that the positive aspects of the current Labor Law to be kept and the revision process to be used to improve and strengthen the social dialogue, to enhance the process of collective bargaining and to fill in the gaps that still exist in the Labor Law in line with European Directives and ILO Conventions.

The President of CCM, Darko Dimovski emphasized that cooperation with the ETUC and ITUC and their presence today is extremely important for CCM, and their support is an indication that CCM is on the right path. He also pointed out that all economic and social problems cannot and should not be resolved solely through the backs of the workers.

The Prime Minister Zoran Zaev thanked for the participation and contribution of the unions in the Social Dialogue as well as in the drafting of the new Labor Law and stressed that the most important part of the Law are the provisions on promotion of workers' rights, social protection and conditions for increase of the wages for all employees.

The Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Mila Carovska, also emphasized that the new Labor Law is being drafted in line with the international standards and promotes european values of labor rights in the interest of all workers in the country.
